My favourite face masks.
I love a good face mask. One of my favourite ways to relax is to treat myself to a at home facial. However face masks can be a tricky purchase. Plenty of the promise us the world, they basically say our skin will be returned to a baby soft flawless complexion. Do you need to spend the big bucks to get a face mask that works? Or will the cheaper options also work some magic on your skin? This is exactly why I put together a list of my five must have face masks.
Sheet face masks
I love this sheet mask from Starskin. I first came across it when I was visiting Harvey Nichols in Edinburgh and was hooked after my first use. Starskin say their Red Carpet Ready mask is for dry and dehydrated skin types but don’t let that put you off if you don’t fit right into that skin type. I have oily skin and it worked wonders. My favourite time to use this face mask is before applying makeup for a special occasion. It leaves my face feeling smooth, plump and really helps create the perfect base before applying my war paint.
The clay mask.
I was blessed with oily problematic skin… yay! Clay face masks help keep that situation in check. I purchased this on a complete whim and was pleasantly surprised by just how awesome this mask is. Kaolin Clay and Charcoal help get rid of all that grime and nasty stuff you can imagine gets into your skin. The Cimicifuga Extract helps reduce the appearance of pores and for a change this face mask actually does that! I think I can hand on heart say this face mask made my skin feel the best it has in a long time. I may even say it’s my favourite mask of all time. It also won’t break the bank.
The over night face mask
Now I know in general night time lotions and potions are meant to be heavier compared to our day time creams. I just hate going to bed feeling like my skin is caked in products. Now I’m 26 I am paying attention to what will keep my skin hydrated, plump and just healthy looking. Kiehls ultra facial overnight hydrating masque can be applied and left for 10 minutes or you can leave it on while you’re in the land of nod for the full benefits. Who doesn’t want to waken up in the morning with soft skin that can absorb and hold moisture? Kiehls is in the more expensive price range but it’s great value for money. The products last forever, seriously I’ve never made it to the bottom of any of mines yet.
The soothing mask
At times my skin can get red and angry. It’s painful and I hate how it looks. Let me introduce you to the Mario Badescu Healing & Soothing Mask. Made with a blend of Lemon Extract and Oatmeal this mask acts as a natural anti inflammatory. Beauty Bay also say this mask is effective on very sensitive and dry skin types which suffer from acne. I can’t comment on that personally but it may be an option for anyone out there who struggles to find a face mask.
