Lets discuss coats! First let me let you know that I’m an extremely fussy shopper. My favourite time to shop is Autumn/Winter however that doesn’t make me any less of a fussy shopper. The last time I bought a proper winter coat was 2013. How do I know that? Because it was a couple of months after I gave birth to Sophia. Now this coat was a big toasty parka with a huge furry hood and I loved it. That coat seen me through a lot! It lasted up until the last of the colder months earlier this year but it finally needed to go into retirement.
Mission find a new coat is a go!
Yes I have bought other jackets between 2013 and now! I’m a sucker for leather jackets, I bought a denim jacket and fell in love with it even though I hadn’t worn one since I was about 8. I don’t just have on lonely coat that’s years old sat in my wardrobe. This week was the week I decided I needed to start the coat hunt. Mainly because its bloody freezing in Aberdeen and I look like a lunatic cruising around in my t shirt. So I started the search online, then I enlisted the help of my mum and came back to looking online. Anyway let’s get this autumn coat blog post underway!
Animal print is in.
It makes me so happy to write those words. Yes! Animal print is in and there is plenty choice in stores and online. If you’re after a bold animal print coat you will not be disappointed. I actually stumbled across this one in Debenhams in the shop window, there was no way anyone could miss this coat.
A little faux fur number.
I remember my first faux fur coat so clearly. I got it from Miss Selfridge back in the days I could actually fit into their clothes. It was love at first sight but be warned, when I wore it the amount of people that came up to me and stroked my coat was unreal! People just had a huge desire to see how soft it was. I could be stood at a bar and have a flock of people come up and pet me, it was kind of weird! But I loved that faux fur coat so much, no amount of attention would stop me from wearing it! I’ve been eyeing this one up on ASOS Curve after falling in love almost instantly.
The trusty parka
After going on and on about my much loved parka I had to include one. This is kind of similar to the one I had. If you’re looking for a day to day cosy coat you can’t go wrong with this. If the quality is anything like mines it will survive motherhood, a good amount of Scottish winters, wont fall apart if you need to wash it and should last you a good few years!
Work a checked coat this season.
Yet another soft spot in the coat department for me is checked coats. You can dress them up or down. Checks are a timeless addition to your outer wear collection. Checked coats can do no wrong in my book! I actually bought this in Primark and even better it’s only £25.00! This Primark coat looks amazing on, is good quality for being so cheap and seemed to flying off the rack!
A Little Black Coat – LBC
We all own a trusty LBD but what about a little black coat? They go with anything, again its something you can dress up or down! Think of all the cute hat and scarf combos you could have!
Rock that teddy trend!
These coats are everywhere! This look is taking over the cosy coat world by storm and I’m kind of loving them. They are soft, cosy and just fun. I came across this one in the plus size Missguided range, it’s also available in black if you are freaked out by the thought of such a light coloured coat.
